Dr. Brian Steely
Veterinarian, DVM
Dr. Brian Steely started his college career as a music major at Eastern Kentucky University but soon realized that his true love was in the field of animal care and changed his major to pre-vet. After undergraduate work at Eastern Kentucky University he was accepted to St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and received his doctorate in 2010. He has been married to his wife Stefanie for almost a year and they have two dogs, Lulu and Dolly. Dr. Steely still loves music, especially bluegrass, and enjoys playing his banjo and guitar when he’s not relaxing with a fishing pole in hand.

I was born and raised in Fort Myers Florida. Just like most Floridians I grew up loving the beach and the water. When I was about 6 years old my parents bought property and built a house on a remote barrier Island called Cayo Costa. Living this type of lifestyle sounds luxurious but in reality is quite the venture. With no road to get there, no power grid, no stores, and no cable TV I quickly learned how to live with simplicity and plan ahead. I mention this part of my life because it was so influential into who I am and explains some of my style of practice. I strive to be complete and thorough by looking at the health of my patients as a whole rather than focus on one issue or illness at a time. Our furry family does not speak to us so we have to use subtle ques and be observant to provide the best care and husbandry. My job is to provide compassionate and comprehensive health care while also giving you the tools and education to facilitate optimal health and prevent disease. That’s my philosophy in a nutshell.
After high school I graduated from Florida State University with an Associates in Science then transferred to the University of Florida to be closer to the veterinary school. I graduated from UF with a bachelor’s in animal science. After undergraduate school I went to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine where I was trained to be a spirit that is not afraid. Auburn was unique because they are surrounded by rural farmland and being a land grant school had access to large animal research and world renown veterinarians.
